Lowering the Energy Burden for Buncombe, Henderson, Madison, and Haywood Counties

Reducing Energy Costs for Low-Income Households in Western NC.

Serving income-qualified Duke Energy clients with FREE energy-efficiency upgrades — weatherization, HVAC heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, insulation — and home repairs with the help of our dedicated volunteers, and funding from Duke Energy, grants, and private donations.

How we serve our Community.

Energy Savers Network is based on the simple idea that we can help transition to a cleaner energy future by helping our most vulnerable and energy burdened neighbors. We help lower home energy costs through FREE energy assessments, education, and weatherization services including measures like air sealing, insulation, HVAC and water heater upgrades, and more. For most clients we are then able to follow up with more extensive health and safety home repairs through Duke Energy’s Helping Home Fund. Our volunteers also benefit by making a positive contribution to their community and planet and by learning techniques to save energy in their own lives.

Did you know that Residential Energy Consumption is the fourth largest use of energy in the U.S. with a third of it wasted?

The Many Voices of our Clients

“I am so thankful for Energy Savers Network. They weatherized my house, did much needed structural repairs including duct work and window repair, also installed a new HVAC system. I am a cancer Survivor still going through chemo treatments and can only work part-time. This help was huge in my life. My light bill went down $200 a month. Everyone was so nice and helpful. I am eternally grateful.”

“Energy Savers Network has been such a blessing to our family! They made upgrades to our home that we would not have been able to do on our own…and provided us with a brand new [heat pump] water heater. As a household with four children, we are always mindful of our budget. This time last year, our electric bill was over $100 higher than it is now. That savings has been impactful for our family. Their commitment to weatherization and energy efficiency doesn’t just lower bills, it creates stability and peace of mind.”

“In 2024, Hurricane Helene flood waters devastated my neighborhood and destroyed my HVAC/heating unit ductwork along with my floor insulation. The Energy Savers Network folks were able to fix the crumbled duct work and recommended a service to replace my insulation. They are wonderful to work with and I no longer feel a breeze as I walk by windows and doors.”

…and/or you can volunteer your time

It’s a handy job.

It’s fun and social.

It’s rewarding and feels great.

Sign up to volunteer for a weatherization workday where you will change out light bulbs with LEDs, insulate water heaters and their pipes, apply caulk and foam to seal air leaks, install water aerators, install door weatherstripping and learn how a blower door works! It’s usually only 4 hours from 11am-3pm and you can pick your day on our calendar based on your schedule and location. Other volunteer opportunities are available as well.

Volunteer with us and GLOW with green energy!
