The Earth Day 5K, hosted by Green Built Alliance, is part fundraiser for our nonprofit and part awareness campaign for reducing our community’s carbon footprint. The event will take place on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Carrier Park. The 5K Race will begin at 8:00 am, with a 1 Mile Family-Friendly Run beginning at 8:05 am. BUT VOLUNTEERS WILL SHOW UP AT 7AM AND STAY TIL 10AM!

For this event we need lots of volunteers to do various tasks like water setup, vendor setup, water stop or course monitor, MC for annoucements, CPR & First Aid, Traffic Support, Finish Line Food, and registration & packet pickup. The fundraising piece will focus on our Appalachian Offsets program, a local carbon offsetting opportunity that allows community members’ offsets to go toward renewable energy projects on Buncombe County schools or other nonprofit organizations. The next Appalachian Offsets project is installing a PV system on the downtown Asheville United Way building.

Early registration includes a t-shirt, goody bag, and bib with timing services. The top 3 male and female runners will receive prizes, including a medal and a local tree donated by Asheville Greenworks!
